  • What to expect
When you arrive, you will have a “before photo” taken and begin the topical numbing process. Once you’re numb, a brow shape will be designed for you based on your unique bone structure and measurements. We are all different, and your brows should reflect your personal style and natural contours. We will discuss colour and brow design together to ensure you are comfortable with the look. Once we begin, we will continue to numb you during the procedure to keep you comfortable. When your brows are completed, an “after photo” will be taken. At the end, we will go over aftercare and questions, and schedule your 6-8 week follow up appointment.
  • Aftercare
Gently rinse your brows with room temperature water and a few suds of mild, unscented soap for a few seconds on each brow, 2-3 hours after the treatment. You are looking to remove any hardened lymph or excess pigment stuck to your hairs. Pat the brows completely dry before spreading a THIN layer of the provided aftercare ointment to protect from outside bacteria and promote healing. Repeat this wash-dry-moisturize routine twice daily until brows are healed, which is usually after 7-10 days. Avoid sweating (no working out for 1 week) and keep the brows dry other than the healing wash routine. We will provide you a plastic visor to protect your brows in the shower, and we suggest to use makeup wipes or minimal skincare for the week.
  • Healing timeline
Day 1: Brows will look finely detailed and crisp. Colour may appear too light or too dark, but should develop into a more fitting colour when healed. Days 2-3: Brows will appear bold and dense, as scabs begin to form. Days 4-5: Scabs will begin to flake off. DO NOT PICK. This may create patchiness or scarring. Days 5-7: Skin under scabs will appear lighter in colour. Pigment may even seem to have disappeared, but be patient. The colour should return day by day. This is normal! Days 7-10: Your body will develop a new layer of skin over the tattoo. Days 10-45: If your brow colour doesn’t return as bold as you hoped, don’t worry. This is the purpose of a touch up session. Patchiness and imperfections will be corrected then.
  • Before you book
Do not exercise the day of your appointment or during the 7-10 day healing period. Don’t drink coffee, alcohol, energy drinks or take any pain relievers 24 hours prior. Chemical peels, electrolysis, Botox or filler should not be done 2 weeks before or after treatment. Don’t wax, tweeze, or dye your brows for 3 days prior. We recommend discontinuing retinoids on your forehead or anywhere near the brows for 3 weeks prior and permanently after any brow tattoo. Exfoliating and hydroxy acids (AHA/BHA) in the brow area must be avoided for one week prior, but you may use near the brows again after 2 weeks of healing. If you have excessive oil or enlarged pores in your T-Zone, consider powder/ombré technique for more durable healed results.
  • You shouldn't book if:
You’re pregnant or nursing You have rosacea or other skin conditions in the brow area You are allergic to metals or anesthetics You have been on Accutane in the past year You have undergone chemotherapy in the past 6 months unless letter from your doctor saying it is ok. If you have a previous eyebrow tattoo (please send us photos for preapproval).
  • What to expect
We will decide on shape and colour together during your appointment. If you have a lipstick or pencil you like for your daily look, bring it as a reference. You will be numbed before and during the procedure. Most clients report only mild discomfort, if any. If you are prone to swelling, you might feel more tender. Swelling subsides within 48 hours. Some unevenness of colour is to be expected between initial sessions, which is why we offer a follow-up. Moisturize your lips every few hours for 3-5 days before your appointment for smoother results. Soft, natural, blushy, and smudge-proof lips.
  • Aftercare
Day of procedure: Wipe with aftercare pad, then moisturize with thick coating of the aftercare ointment. Repeat every 3-4 hours, and once before bed. Day after procedure: Wipe with aftercare pad, then moisturize with a coating of the aftercare ointment. Repeat every 3-4 hours. 2-3 days after procedure: Avoid spicy, acidic or minty foods and direct contact with food/drink. Use a straw to drink and a fork to eat, and try to avoid major or frequent contact with lips. The rest of the month: Use shea butter, aquaphor, or the provided aftercare ointment to keep your lips moist to protect the fresh colour. Daily chapstick with SPF in it is highly recommended after you're healed!
  • Healing Timeline
Days 1-3: Your lips may be swollen, hot, and tender for 24-48 hours. The colour may appear vivid or dramatic at first, but will soften 50% as it heals. The true colour will develop a little each day, and can be seen after a month. Days 4-5: Lips will peel, but do not pick. Colour underneath may appear light in colour. Days 6-7: Lips may feel dry and chapped after peeling is complete. Continue to use Aquaphor daily. Colour may seem frosty in appearance, but will become more matte as it continues to heal. Days 7-28: Colour continues to bloom day by day. Keep moisturized.
  • Before you book
You must take an anti-viral (such as Valtrex) for the few days prior and a week following the lip procedure if you have EVER had a cold sore. For details about this, please contact us. If you have dry or chapped lips, moisturize daily with Aquaphor or Shea Butter for a week prior. If your lips are chapped or dry at the appointment, it can be painful and cause trauma, and the colour won't hold. In these cases, we have to reschedule you with a new deposit. It is fine to have fillers, as long as they are healed at least 4 weeks prior! Lip blush is a great solution for those blurred edges that can happen with expanding the lip over time with injections. Please avoid blood thinners such as pain relievers, alcohol, fish oil and caffeine 18-24 hours prior to your appointment. This will help your colour retention. This procedure is intended to give the appearance of more lively, yet natural lips. It is not intended to replace a heavy or concentrated lipstick, or to add volume.
  • You shouldn't book if
You are pregnant or nursing You are taking Accutane or blood thinners You are prone to unmanaged cold sore outbreaks You have chronically dry, cracked lips
  • What to expect
You will be numbed before and during the treatment. Most clients are surprised by the minimal discomfort from this procedure. Often you can just feel a tickle from the vibration of the tattoo machine.
  • Aftercare
Gently rinse off aftercare ointment with room temperature water 2-3 hours after the procedure. Keep eyelids clean and dry for 7 days, and do not pick scabs. You may use a cold pack or sleep elevated to help reduce swelling. Use a clean pillowcase, and avoid touching the treated area without clean hands. Avoid eye makeup for 5-7 days, or until all scabs have flaked off.
  • Healing Timeline
Days 1-2: You may have swollen, heavy or tender eyelids. Avoid heavy lifting, physical exertion, contacts, eyedrops and crying. Days 4-5: Scabs will begin to flake off in small, stitch-like lines. The skin underneath may look light. Days 5-28: The colour will return slowly, but some unevenness of colour is expected. This is the purpose of the follow-up session.
